Literacy Module 3: Targeted Strategies

Seriously!  It is the fun part.

While some people might think that these are just worksheets, for you they are ideas.  You don't have to print them and force your kids to fill them out, but it is always (without fail) fun to trick your kids into learning!

Okay, it may be a little much to trick them, but if you work some of these ideas into helping your child with homework, slip them to you child's teacher, or actually get them to use them independently as strategies to help themselves when you're not there.  As a reading teacher, the last option is my favorite.  Teaching these strategies to your child or using them yourself empowers the student to take control of their own learning.

The strategies below all include directions.  Explicit, direct instructions telling your child EXACTLY how these work and why you're using them will increase the success of each strategy.

Now, I was going to pretend to be 'super teacher' and list them all for you...but there is an amazing website that has every strategy that could be easily transitioned for home use.   I have linked them throughout your modules.  Don't forget to look at other strategies listed on Modules 1& 2 and share these ideas with your child's teacher.
